Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum one year of coaching experience.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification.

• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple assignments.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Preferred: High school or collegiate athletic participation.
• Preferred: High school or collegiate coaching experience.

Job Summary

Responsible for the coordination of Kamehameha Athletic Sports program, including coaching, instructing students and performing other duties necessary to the development of players and teams, in alignment with KS philosophy of athletics.

Essential Responsibilities

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of sport including rules, regulations, tactics, and techniques.
• Translate sports knowledge to athletes and evaluate athlete and team performance.
• Teach individual and team skills, identifying outcomes beyond winning and losing.
• Assist athletes to reach full potential, addressing individual needs without compromising team goals.
• Organize and supervise well‑planned, safe, and efficient practices and games.
• Prepare team for games/matches/meets.
• Conduct self in an ethical and professional manner and present self as a positive role model.
• Show respect, motivation, and inspiration to athletes, promoting sportsmanship and respect for rules and officials.
• Develop a team concept within KS values‑driven framework, providing balanced skill development and team concepts.
• Handle administrative responsibilities such as disciplinary issues, medical and academic eligibility, timing checks, records, timesheets, and HR requirements.
• Manage equipment, uniforms, and assist with planning and budgeting for the sport.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, faculty, administrators, coaches, and community members.
• Promote program in local and state communities.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Nationals Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Fundamentals of Coaching Certification.

• High school or collegiate athletic participation.
• High school or collegiate coaching experience.

Working Conditions

May involve traveling to other locations, including neighbor islands; office/school environment; standard Monday‑through‑Friday hours with frequent evening and weekend work.
