Agropur is hiring a Cheddar Operator I in Wisconsin. The role focuses on safely packaging cheddar into 640-pound boxes and maintaining GMP compliance. Training is provided, with strong emphasis on teamwork and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred and in-house training provided.
  • Lift truck license required; in-house training provided.
  • Must communicate effectively in writing and verbally; attention to detail is essential.
  • Basic math, computer use and the ability to follow instructions are required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Set up area for daily production.
  • Produce and seal 640-pound cheddar boxes according to specs.
  • Operate vacuum chambers and record data as required.
  • Move sealed boxes to the pre-cooler and onto the seal line for final packaging.
  • Prepare box cards and manage inventory for the pre-cooler.
  • Assist Cheddar team members as needed and maintain GMP compliance.
  • Keep the 640 room clean and organized; handle daily clean-up and prep supplies.
  • Follow safety protocols and report hazards; participate in safety programs.

  • Two pay increases within a year, up to $1.00

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Set up area for daily production.
  • Make boxes, fill, and drain according to specifications.
  • Prepare boxes and place into vacuum chamber. Operate vacuum chambers and record information according to specifications.
  • Pull boxes from vacuum chambers and hang on the rail for the specified time, then move to the seal line for final sealing.
  • Prepare box cards for sealed boxes per make (recipe), and place box of cheese into the pre-cooler.
  • Assist all Cheddar employees as needed.
  • Clean-up entire 640 room after daily production and prepare supplies for the next day.
  • Keep area clean and organized at all times.
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Safety Protocol
  • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
  • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
  • Support safety policies and programs.

The Individual Who Will Own This Role
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • No experience necessary; in-house training provided.
  • Lift Truck License required: in-house training provided.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with managers and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Basic computer operational skills; able to input and retrieve computerized information.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, adapt to a changing environment quickly, and think independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Follow one- or two-step verbal instructions; read and follow written instructions; perform routine and repetitive tasks and carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or verbal instructions.
  • Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and work to maintain constructive working relationships.
