Job summary

ShopRite in Bronx, NY is seeking a Cashier to deliver friendly, efficient checkout service. You will scan, price and bag products, collect payment, and provide accurate change at the register.

The role requires basic math, strong English communication, and the ability to stand for long shifts while lifting up to 50 lbs. You will work with diverse items and assist customers with purchases in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work area.
• Clean and sanitize surfaces, utensils and equipment per QA standards.
• Keep work area free of debris and spills.
• Follow safety rules, policies, and health regulations for Front-End ops.
• Dress and groom according to company policy; wear uniform.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service at the register.
• Operate the cash register and follow cash handling procedures.
• Accurately identify and scan products and bag orders properly.
• Process all forms of payment per company guidelines.
• Promote current charitable promotions to customers.
• Handle damaged or return-to-stock items per policy, prioritizing perishables.
• Know locations of items and assist customers with finds.
• Stand at register for extended periods, possibly over 8 hours.
• Adhere to shrink guidelines for Front-End ops.
• Follow HAZCOM and safe chemical handling procedures.
• Report equipment issues and complete training programs.
• Support ShopRite Service Priorities: Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, Efficiency.
• Maintain punctuality and attendance; work overtime as needed.
