Job summary

El Super is seeking a Checker for the #4 Cesar Chavez location in Los Angeles, CA. The starting rate is $18.47 per hour, with duties emphasizing customer service, fast and accurate sales processing, and cash register operation in a busy grocer environment.

Under supervision of the Front End Supervisor, the Checker helps maintain service standards, protects assets, and supports customers and staff. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds is required; prior retail experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, short correspondence.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Explain information to customers and coworkers.
• Regularly lift up to 25 pounds, frequently 45 pounds, and occasionally 60 pounds.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision of the Front End Supervisor, the Checker is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service as per company standards, processing sales quickly, accurately and efficiently, performing cash register operations and safeguarding company assets. Must be able to bend, stand and stoop for prolonged periods of times. The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.
