General Function

As a cashier, you'll be part of a growing, innovative brand that prides itself on providing best-in-class customer service. The cashier provides fast and friendly service to customers, assists with questions and requests, operates a cash register, and performs related duties such as packaging, working with drive-up or carry-out, and replenishing products as needed.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of GM, Perishables, and Store Operations, Service Managers. No positions report to you.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, showing care, concern, and patience in all interactions.
2. Greet customers with a smile and address them by name when possible.
3. Assist customers in locating products, securing out-of-reach items, loading heavy items, and passing along suggestions or requests.
4. Answer phone calls promptly and courteously.
5. Operate cash register accurately, handle transactions, and give proper change and receipts.
6. Package merchandise, assist with courtesy services, and ensure a pleasant shopping experience.
7. Follow policies regarding sales of tobacco, liquor, and lottery tickets, as well as WIC and food stamps.
8. Stock and face shelves, rotate merchandise, and maintain store cleanliness and organization.
9. Ensure store safety and security by perceiving immediate surroundings.
10. Maintain proper sanitation and personal hygiene standards.
11. Adhere to company policies and report to work as scheduled.

Secondary Duties

• Assist with store displays and decorations.
• Know product code dates and assist in other store areas as needed.
• Perform related duties and participate in special projects.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform basic arithmetic.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual acuity from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, including color vision and depth perception.
• Perform physical activities such as climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, and lifting.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to temperature extremes, dampness, equipment hazards, chemicals, and a fast-paced environment.

Equipment Used

Pallet jack, cash registers, calculator, telephone, intercom, copier, and other store equipment.

Additional Information

Night and weekend shifts are required. This is an entry-level, part-time position in the management and manufacturing job functions across various industries.
