Job summary

Diamond Parking Service is seeking a Parking Lot Checker to ensure accurate cash handling, monitor lot activity, and uphold safety at multiple locations across the region.

You will audit payments, verify permits, deposit funds per protocol, complete shift reports, and coordinate with maintenance and other departments. The role requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting, with travel to various sites and weekend or after-hours work as needed.

Job Title: Parking Lot Checker

Department: Operations

Reports To: Area Supervisor/Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: This role is required to work during normal business hours with occasional weekend or after-hours work as needed.

Work Location: In-person at assigned lot locations throughout the designated area/region

Position Overview

The Parking Lot Checker is responsible for ensuring accurate collection, documentation, and deposit of money from all assigned parking operations. This role includes auditing parking activity, verifying vehicle payment and permit status, maintaining station cleanliness, and reporting issues related to lot maintenance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide courteous, professional interactions with customers, vendors, co-workers, and managers. Maintain a positive and respectful demeanor.
  • Cash Handling & Reporting: Accurately inventory pay boxes, collect and secure funds and equivalents (e.g., theater tickets), and deposit in designated bank based on protocol. Complete shift reports and time cards.
  • Parking Lot Monitoring: Check lot for valid payments/permits and issue parking violation or "parking owed" notices when applicable. Patrol for theft prevention.
  • Maintenance & Safety: Clear trash/debris from stations, inspect signage/rates, and report hazards such as potholes or broken signs.
  • Data & Documentation: May perform data entry using electronic devices. Complete incident reports and submit accurate documentation for each shift.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but regularly collaborates with other departments and staff to ensure accurate financial reporting and process coordination.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). One to three months of related experience or training preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, memos, and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Knowledge & Skills: Basic mathematical skills required for handling and reconciling American currency. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and apply sound judgment in routine situations.
  • Additional Requirements: Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and insurance. Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally to multiple locations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to meet the physical and psychological demands of the position:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, kneel, stoop, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Extended hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required.

Work Environment: Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The work environment noise level is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

Other: All employees are subject to internal audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to recording, handling, and depositing of money, and other duties. Failure to meet standards may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
