Job summary

Clinica Sierra Vista in Bakersfield, CA, seeks a Receptionist- CHC to join the central Bakersfield CHC. The role handles patient check-ins, scheduling, and front-desk duties with HIPAA compliance and excellent service.

Two years medical experience and an MA certificate are preferred. Under supervision of the CHC Office Manager, you will process registrations, verify insurance, collect payments, and coordinate patient flow.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Minimum of two years experience in a medical setting.
• MA Certificate

Responsibilities

• Welcomes and greets patients/visitors to the department and directs them appropriately.
• Check’s in and registers patients upon arrival.
• Coordinate patient flow to support clinic scheduling and grant requirements.
• Assist in scheduling appointments and determine patient type (new vs established).
• Inform patients of balances and educate on financial responsibility for services.
• Provide information to clinic callers per policies; transfer as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all interactions.
• Verify payment methods (Medi-Cal, Medicare, private insurance, etc.) and collect co-pays.
• Prepare daily batch reports and cash drops; forward to accounts receivable.
• Support day-to-day admin tasks including word processing, copying, filing, faxing, phones, and data entry.
• Contribute to successful EHR/EPM usage and other clinic duties.
