Job summary

Antillean Marine Shipping Corp is seeking a Chassis Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair container chassis and related equipment. The role supports containerized cargo operations by minimizing downtime in yards, ports, or depots.

The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of chassis/trailer/heavy truck repair experience, with knowledge of brakes, suspensions, landing gear, tires, and lights. Work is performed in yard or port environments, often outdoors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in mechanics preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience in chassis, trailer, or heavy truck repair.
• Knowledge of chassis components including brakes, suspensions, landing gear, tires, and lights.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of container chassis for damage, wear, and compliance with regulations.
• Diagnose mechanical, structural, and electrical issues affecting chassis safety and performance.
• Document inspection results and report issues to supervisors.
• Conduct preventative maintenance such as lubrication, brake adjustments, tire changes, and suspension checks.
• Repair or replace defective parts including brakes, wheels, tires, electrical wiring, landing gear, and lights.
• Ensure all repairs and modifications meet federal, state, and company safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and parts used.
• Follow proper safety procedures while using tools and heavy machinery.
• Use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power equipment to complete tasks efficiently.
• Work closely with yard staff, supervisors, and other mechanics to coordinate repair priorities.
• Provide feedback on recurring issues to improve preventative maintenance programs.
