POSITION SUMMARY

The Chassis Line Assembler is responsible for the assembly and installation process of the fire apparatus chassis. They will bolt the frame of the chassis together while monitoring the torque of the bolts. The Chassis Line Assembler will install a variety of different equipment to the frame such as fuel tanks, air tanks, axels, and cab latches as called for in the specifications. Also, they will ensure that the frame is square and meets the detentions according to prints and the specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Bolts the frame of the chassis together while monitoring the torque of the bolts.
2. Installs a variety of different equipment to the frame such as fuel tanks, air tanks, axels, and cab latches as called for in the specifications.
3. Ensures that the frame is square and meets the detentions according to prints and the specifications.
4. Installs brake lines, wire harnesses, plumbing, air lines and other equipment onto the chassis.
5. Assembles the engine to the fire apparatus by putting together engine component to make a working build.
6. Installs wire harnesses and electrical equipment, performing cable management throughout the process.
7. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience: High school diploma/GED. Strong mechanical and technical ability required. Manufacturing experience preferred.

Skills: Language: Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books. Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately. Able to follow written and verbal directions. Math: Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Computer: Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.

Abilities: Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed. Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines. Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment. Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
