Chassis Design Engineer

Job Summary:

Our client in Saline, MI is seeking a Chassis Design Engineer for a contract position.

What You Will Do:

As a Chassis Design Engineer, you will work on various chassis functions for projects under development and in production. The division handles suspension/axle, frame, tire/wheel, shifter, steering wheel, steering system, brake system, and controls. You will have the opportunity to work on different chassis systems over time.

Current opportunities include work within the Body-on-Frame truck group and the unibody group responsible for sedans, SUVs, and minivans. You will report to the Senior Manager of the group.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing model lifecycle for chassis components of light-duty trucks, SUVs, and minivans, including documentation updates.
• Conducting regulation and certification activities.
• Facilitating communication between design, suppliers, and project teams.
• Monitoring field issues and warranty conditions, conducting root cause analysis.
• Supporting cost reduction initiatives with suppliers.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering or related field.
• Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer or similar role.
• Availability for approximately 20% overtime.
• Hybrid work schedule (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in chassis design and development.
• Proficiency in CATIA.
