Job summary

Contour Aviation in Smyrna, TN is hiring a Charter Flight Coordinator with an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate and 2+ years of dispatch experience. You will support flight crews, plan flights under FARs, weather and wind considerations, and coordinate with Operations Control to ensure safe, on-time operations.

The role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Authorized to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the United States.
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Must understand, read, and write English.
  • FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate required.
  • Two+ years dispatch experience preferred.
  • Familiar with FARs, aeronautical charts, aviation weather, aircraft performance and flight planning.
  • Able to pass background checks and drug screen.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills; ability to work with diverse personalities.

Responsibilities

  • Support flight crew with operational control of flights and preflight planning in compliance with Federal Regulations.
  • Collaborate with System Operations Control to ensure safety-first mission.
  • Plan flights considering winds and weather for safety and economy.
  • Determine minimum fuel and provide preflight briefing with status and weather information.
  • Monitor flight progress and communicate necessary safety information.
  • Reroute or redirect flights for economy; coordinate diversions and recoveries.
  • Negotiate with air traffic control for optimal routes and reduced delays.
  • Provide operations support to Maintenance and System Operations Control.
  • Assist with data monitoring from crew and stations; perform other duties as assigned.

We invite you to become part of our family and contribute to our ongoing success.Key Responsibilities• Responsible for supporting the flight crew members with operational control of flights and jointly responsible for the preflight planning and delay of flights in compliance with Federal Regulations and Contour Operations Specifications.• Work closely with other divisions within System Operations Control to ensure that flight crewmembers maintain the Company's mission of safety above all.• Plans flights considering the effects of enroute winds and weather, balancing safety, and economy.• Determines the minimum fuel supply necessary for the safe completion of the flight including any required alternate airports.• Provides pilot-in-command with preflight briefing including aircraft and flight status as well as providing all current reports or information on airport conditions and irregularities of navigation facilities and all available weather reports and forecasts for weather phenomena that may affect the safety of the flight.• Monitors the progress of each flight.• Issues necessary information for the safety of the flight.• Cancel a flight if the flight cannot operate or continue to operate safely as planned or released.• Responsible for rerouting or redirecting a flight based on economic considerations. This may include special routings, passenger convenience, and aircraft/flight crewmember utilization.• Recommend flight plan alternatives.• Coordinates aircraft diversions and recoveries.• Negotiates with air traffic control for alternative routes and reductions in air traffic control delays.• Provides operations expertise to the Maintenance Department and System Operations Control.• Monitors and processes data provided by flight crewmembers and stations.• Other duties as assigned by management.Qualifications• Be at least 18 years of age.• Be authorized to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the United States.• Possess a valid state driver’s license and must have good driving record.• Possess high school diploma or GED equivalent.• Must understand, read, and write English.• FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate required• A minimum of two (2) years’ dispatch experience is preferred.• Extensive familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations, aeronautical charts, aviation weather, aircraft performance and flight planning• Able to pass a required 10-year work history review and submit to criminal background and fingerprint checks.• Must pass a DOT required pre-employment drug screen and willing to submit to and pass FAA and Company mandated random drug and alcohol tests.• Possess strong leadership and organizational skills.• Must have well-developed people skills and the ability to work with a variety of personalities.• Able to coordinate multiple priorities and meet deadlines.• Able to handle interruptions and work in a fast fast-paced environment.• Maintain strong attention to detail.• Be self-motivated and able to motivate others.• Excellent communication skills: both written and verbal delivered with tact and professionalism.• Work independently or as part of a team.• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft products such as Office 365, Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
