Baptist Health Floyd is seeking a Charge Nurse for the Women’s Health unit in New Albany, IN. This full-time role (36 hours weekly) covers day shifts from 7am to 7pm and includes a sign-on bonus for experienced external applicants.

The Charge Nurse acts as a resource and provides direct patient care while leading staff and adjusting staffing as needed to maintain quality care and safe patient flow. The position is benefit eligible.

Qualifications

• ASN required, approved nursing program.
• Indiana or compact state RN license.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
• NRP certification required (within 6 months).
• STABLE certification required (within 12 months).
• Low Risk Neonatal Nursing RNC-LRN required (within 12 months).
• One year of nursing experience; area specialty experience preferred.
• Professional/specialty certification as per unit standards.

Responsibilities

Job Duties:

Responsible for acting as a resource nurse for the department. This is an entry-level leadership nursing position responsible for the coordination of care on designated shifts. The Charge Nurse will provide leadership to the staff members of the unit in the area of patient care. The Charge Nurse will work alongside the team and provide direct patient care while determining needed staffing fluctuations during shifts, responding to departmental concerns, address immediate staff issues and coordinate patient flow. The CN has immediate oversight of employees while performing the same or directly related work as those the position leads.

About the Department:

Women's Health Services is conveniently located on the same floor as the Labor and Delivery unit and is a 19-bed unit utilizing a couplet care model following the AWHONN staffing guidelines. The unit also cares for female post-operative patients who have recently undergone gynecological or bariatric procedures.

Qualifications:

Graduate of an approved nursing program, holding a minimum of an ASN.

Current Indiana or compact state RNLicense.

BLS for Healthcare Providers required.

NRP certification required (obtained within 6 months of hire).

S.T.A.B.L.E certification required (obtained within 12 months of hire).

Low Risk Neonatal Nursing RNC-LRN (National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties) required (obtained within 12 months of hire).

One year of nursing experience required; One year of experience in area of specialty preferred.

Professional/Specialty certification required as per unit/department standards
