Job summary

Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC) in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Medical Surgical Charge RN for 4 West. You will oversee frontline nurses, advocate for staff, and help the unit reach its goals.

Candidates should have acute care experience, AZ RN license, and BLS CPR. A BSN is preferred. SJHMC is part of Dignity Health and offers a community dedicated to humankindness and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent required.
• RN license in AZ currently active.
• BLS CPR certification required.
• Two years RN experience in a relevant clinical specialty.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Experience with computers and electronic health records preferred.
• Recent acute care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mentor others in competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care and patient safety goals.
• Provide direct patient care as appropriate to meet patient and departmental needs.
• Understand ethics processes and coordinate Ethics Consultations when needed.
• Coordinate patient flow on the unit to ensure timely and effective care.
• Use the Clinical Response Team appropriately for the area.
• Demonstrate prioritization and critical thinking in high-stress situations.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Medical Surgical Charge RN on 4 West, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

• Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), and participation in inservice education.

• Provides direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of the patients and department.

• Exhibits a general understanding of the process for dealing with ethical dilemmas and understands and coordinates the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult.

• Coordinates patient flow on the unit to facilitate the provision of timely and effective care.

• Utilizes the Clinical Response Team (CRT) appropriately for the area.

• Demonstrates appropriate prioritization and critical thinking skills in critical situations.

$42.85 - $63.77 /hour
