Job summary

Saint Joseph East in Lexington, KY, part of CommonSpirit Health, seeks a Charge RN to oversee Nursing Units and guide frontline nurses toward delivering exceptional patient care.

You will advocate for nurses, communicate effectively in 1:1 and group settings, and address tough conversations while aligning unit performance with departmental goals.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse license in Kentucky at time of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of personnel on Nursing Units; assign and evaluate patient care; monitor staff performance on each shift.
• Proactively allocate resources to support patient care and maintain a therapeutic environment.
• Monitor staffing productivity and ensure alignment of resources with patient care needs.
• Communicate personnel-related concerns to Unit Manager as needed.
• Apply logical, systematic problem-solving to clinical and staffing challenges.
• Facilitate Patient Experience best practices on the unit (e.g., hourly rounding).

This position is eligible for up to a $25,000 sign-on bonus AND up to $24,000 Student Loan Assistance

As a Charge RN, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

• Provides direct supervision of personnel practicing on Nursing Units, makes patient care assignments, evaluates assignments, facilitates patient throughout, and directly observes staff performance on assigned shift.
• Proactively matches existing resources seeking ways to provide patient care that supports staff and maintains a therapeutic environment.
• Monitors productivity and assures that staffing and resources are aligned with patient care needs.
• Communicates personnel related concerns to Unit Manager.
• Uses a logical, systematic approach to problems and problem-solving.
• Facilitates Patient Experience best practices on the unit (hourly rounding, etc.)
