Job description

Responsibilities

This position is accountable for the daily patient care operations of the assigned department, working under the direction of the Nurse Manager on assigned shifts. Responsibilities include daily patient care assignments, maintaining clinical standards of care, labor productivity, supervision of the patient care environment, and supporting the care team. The role also supports the activities of the Nurse Manager, maintains positive inter- and intra-departmental relationships, directs patient throughput activities, and ensures evidence-based nursing practices are followed to achieve desirable patient outcomes in accordance with the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Provides direct supervision of personnel practicing on Nursing Units, makes patient care assignments, evaluates staff performance, facilitates patient throughput, and observes staff performance during the shift.
  2. Proactively manages resources to support staff and maintain a therapeutic environment.
  3. Monitors staffing and resources to meet patient care needs.
  4. Communicates personnel concerns to the Unit Manager.
  5. Uses systematic problem-solving approaches.
  6. Facilitates best practices for Patient Experience on the unit (e.g., hourly rounding).
  7. Maintains professional standards within the unit and holds staff accountable.
  8. Maintains confidentiality and assists in audits and data collection as needed.
  9. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department.
  10. Performs direct patient care as needed and accepts an assigned group of patients.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) from an accredited nursing school.

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • Current RN license in Kentucky
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 3 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of RN experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
