Riverstreet Manor in Wilkes-Barre, PA is hiring a Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to supervise nursing care on assigned shifts under the Director of Nursing. You will lead a compassionate team and ensure quality patient care in a supportive environment.

Requirements of the Charge Registered Nurse (RN)

• Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state

• Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residentsserved.

• Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.

• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies orpersonnel, and the general public.

• Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines thatpertain to nursing care facilities

• Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise otherpersonnel.

• Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition

Responsibilities of the Charge Registered Nurse (RN)

• Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurse (RN) Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Skilled Nursing facility for his/her particular shift.

• The Registered Nurse (RN) Shift Supervisor is also responsible for all administrative and professional working policies pertaining to this section; and for supervising and delegating responsibilities to assure that clinical duties and unit activities are completed in order to provide quality patient care.

• The Registered Nurse (RN) Shift Supervisor must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the residents served on his/her unit - adult through geriatric.

• The RN Shift Supervisor must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span; possess the ability to assess data reflective of the resident's status; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each resident's requirements relative to their age-specific needs; and to provide the care needed as described in the Nursing Department's policies and procedures.

• Responsible for the supervision of the Skilled Nursing Facility during scheduled tour of duty; makes round throughout facility.

• Performs all duties and functions of an RN.

• Assess physical condition and nursing needs of resident.

• Directs and assures appropriate nursing action in crisis situations.

• Investigates incidents/accidents.

• Adjusts staffing to insure adequate staffing on each unit.

• Ensures delegated responsibilities are within staff’s practice/ability.
