Charge Nurse Stepdown Full Time Nights Position Summary

The Charge Nurse is a professional nurse who manages the daily operations of one or more departments to provide services for patients while meeting quality, legal, organizational, and medical staff goals. They are responsible for promoting efficient operations to ensure effective nursing care within their designated department(s). The Charge Nurse manages the department independently under the guidance of a Nurse Manager or Director.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, JCAHO standards, and the Nurse Practice Act. They promote optimal healthcare delivery within budgetary guidelines and are responsible for the department(s) on a 24-hour basis.

Education

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Preferred: Academic degree in nursing (bachelor's or master's degree).

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year RN experience.

Certifications

  • Current license, certification, or registration to practice as required by law, regulation, or policy in the state of practice.
  • CPR certification.
