Additional Information About the Role

Divisions 6400 & 6500 are a combined trauma, geriatric trauma, and acute care surgery nursing division. We have a combined bed capacity of 63 patients. Our nurses specialize in caring for patients who have experienced traumatic injuries including motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, stab injuries, traumatic amputations, fall injuries, burns, fractures, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries.

Shifts: 3-12 hours

Applicants: ADN or BSN

Shift: Night

Overview

The Surgical Services Department provides pre-op and post-op inpatient care for various surgical procedures, focusing on pre-op needs, post-op care, and recovery through discharge. The department's ICU and observation unit care for post-traumatic and post-op patients requiring intensive treatment.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose: Under the direction of the manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit during a shift. Performs direct patient care and acts as a clinical resource to staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates, and documents nursing care.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and resolve gaps in care from hospitalization to discharge and outpatient settings. Assess patient data proactively to prevent changes in condition and consult with the interprofessional team as needed.
  • Develop and implement complex care plans with goals in collaboration with the team, patients, and families, ensuring standards are met and care is holistic and anticipatory.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices, participate in journal clubs, support practice changes, and promote ongoing learning and practice improvement.
  • Evaluate practice standards, provide feedback, and improve patient satisfaction and care quality.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position requiring alertness and safe work practices.
  • Minimum Requirements

    Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing

    Experience: 2-5 years

    Supervisor Experience: None required

    Licenses & Certifications: RN license

    Preferred Requirements

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

    Experience: 5-10 years
