About the Facility

Alton Memorial Hospital has served residents of Alton, Illinois, and surrounding areas since 1937, offering a variety of inpatient and outpatient services including surgery, imaging, heart care, cancer treatment, emergency services, and more.

Role Purpose

Under the direction of the manager, the Charge Nurse plans, directs, and coordinates activities on a designated shift, performs direct patient care as needed, and functions as a clinical resource for staff. The role involves assessing, planning, evaluating, and documenting nursing care.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and resolve gaps in care from hospitalization through discharge and into outpatient settings.
  • Develop and implement complex care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
  • Promote evidence-based practices and support nursing practice advancement.
  • Evaluate patient and family experiences to improve care quality and satisfaction.
  • Maintain safety standards as this is a safety-sensitive position requiring alertness and safe conduct.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Experience: 2-5 years
  • Licenses & Certifications: RN license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Experience: 5-10 years
