Job summary

Nacogdoches Medical Center Hospital is seeking a Charge Nurse to guide and support nursing staff, ensure patient throughput, and supervise support personnel. The role includes direct clinical care and coordinating with medical providers to maintain high-quality, safe patient care on a shift-by-shift basis.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program, RN license, 1 year RN experience, and BLS; ACLS/PALS/NRP per policy.

Qualifications

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor's or master's degree.
• Required: 1 year of RN experience.
• Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice; AHA BLS, and ACLS/PALS/NRP as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Guide and support staff; maintain a safe environment; ensure patient throughput; supervise support staff; delegate assignments.
• Provide direct clinical patient care; assess, plan, implement care on a per shift basis; coordinate with clinical leader and CNO.

The charge nurse is responsible for the smooth and efficient patient flow within the unit, delegates assignments and provides supervision for the support staff in accordance with their level of training and the patient s acuity. The charge nurse works, in cooperation with medical providers to ensure the quality of patient care. This role also provides direct clinical patient care. The role will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing direct clinical care to assigned patients on a per shift basis, and unit level. The role is responsible for supervision of staff to which appropriate care is delegated. The role is accountable to support CNO to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred: Bachelor's or master's degree.

Experience:

Required: 1 year of RN experience.

Certifications:

Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy; AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.
