Purpose of Your Job Position

The primary purpose of your job is to provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and regulations to maintain high-quality care.

Delegation of Authority

As Charge Nurse, you are delegated the necessary administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for your duties.

Education

Must possess, at minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program.

Experience

None. On-the-job training provided.

Job Functions

The essential functions include directing nursing assistants, ensuring policy compliance, participating in quality assurance, managing resident care plans, maintaining documentation, administering medications, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with safety and legal standards. Specific duties are detailed and should be performed in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Specific Requirements
  • Must possess a current, active license to practice as an RN or LPN/LVN in this state.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices, laws, and regulations pertaining to nursing care facilities.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and develop programs and policies for quality care.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and the ability to handle difficult residents and situations.
  • Willingness to learn and incorporate new methods into nursing practices.
  • Ability to relate information concerning a resident’s condition clearly and effectively.
  • Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of others.
