Job summary

HMR Veterans Services in Tyler, Texas is seeking a Charge Nurse to lead daily nursing activities, ensure high-quality care, and uphold regulatory requirements under nursing leadership.

As a Charge Nurse, you will supervise staff, manage admissions and transfers, coordinate with families and physicians, and ensure accurate documentation and care plans while fostering a respectful, patient-centered environment for America's veterans.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree or LN program with active, unencumbered state LN license.
• Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in healthcare.
• Trained in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
• Knowledgeable about long-term care laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Effective English reading, writing, and speaking ability.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with professionalism and tact.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily nursing activities to ensure high-quality care.
• Oversee admissions, discharges, and transfers; coordinate with families and funeral homes as needed.
• Monitor staffing, performance, and provide guidance to staff and trainees.
• Maintain accurate nursing notes and ensure care plans are followed.
• Communicate with families and physicians about patient changes and concerns.
• Lead infection control orientations and ensure PPE compliance.
• Provide direct nursing care when needed and support emergency responses.
• Ensure medications, supplies, and equipment are available and organized.
• Uphold residents' rights, privacy, and dignity in care.
• Participate in care plan development and updates; ensure follow-through.
