Position is a Charge/Lead Nurse located at Granville Correctional Institution in Butner, NC, which houses 573 medium and close custody male offenders. The position provides professional nursing care and treatment to patients under medical protocols in a supervisory capacity. Employees in this role are responsible for managing and supervising daily nursing care on an assigned shift or assigned area, or in a preceptor role, coordinating all licensed and non-licensed staff. Work includes conducting needs assessments; developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans; and providing patient care and education to offenders in a state correctional facility.

The position requires conducting sick call assessments, administering medication, performing phlebotomy procedures, transcribing medical orders, providing patient education, maintaining thorough medical documentation, monitoring and treating communicable diseases, and responding to emergencies. The position will be that of Charge RN and may require working any shift, based on the institution's current needs, including weekends and holidays, with limited clinical supervision.

The team of physicians, nurses, behavioral health services, dental services, psychiatric services, pharmacy services, and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent, acute, routine, and chronic health care, as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison, improving public health, and decreasing recidivism.
