Job summary

Connections Health Solutions in Kirkland, WA seeks a Charge Nurse to manage the unit's flow, admissions, transfers, and discharges, applying crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.

You will train staff, ensure documentation aligns with JCAHO and OMFL standards, and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to maintain safe, efficient care.

A WA RN license, 3–5 years in psychiatric/behavioral health, 1–2 years leadership, BLS, and vaccination compliance are required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program.
  • 3-5 years of psychiatric, behavioral health, or relevant experience.
  • 1-2 years of managerial experience.
  • Unrestricted RN license through WA State Board or multistate licensure.
  • American Heart Association BLS.
  • Must meet vaccination policy and credentialing requirements.
  • Ability to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques.
  • Physical requirements including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for long periods.

What You'll Do:

The Charge Nurse oversees the operation, organization, and flow of recipients through the unit; including but not limited to, delegating nursing assignments, overseeing admissions, transfers, and discharges. Demonstrates knowledge of Crisis Intervention and can de-escalate potentially aggressive situations. Assists with training and orientation of new staff and oversees assigned duties of staff and documentation to meet JCAHO and OMFL standards.

  • RN responsibilities are met and abide by company policy. Performs all essential functions of a Registered Nurse as needed.
  • Assists Nurse Manager and/or Director of Nursing with the implementation of new policies/procedures and collection of necessary data for reporting (Infection Control, incidents/Medication Errors, Injuries, and Staffing issues). Actively assesses work area for non-compliance issues and notifies Nurse Manager and/or Director of Nursing with identified concerns.
  • Monitors the observation, inpatient unit, and the lobby area to coordinate care and safety issues with the Lead BHS . Collaborates with other members of the Multidisciplinary team to ensure a smooth flow of admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Ensures coverage for any RN/LPN call-offs for the oncoming shift . Reports lack of coverage to Nurse Manager. Ensures all Nursing staff on their shift remain in compliance with required trainings.
  • Utilizes de-escalation procedures and theories to assist in providing a safe milieu. Utilizes skills effectively to describe and demonstrate roles and responsibilities relative to safety. Review seclusion/restraint packet and assist with their corrections.
  • Completes reviews and audits of staff documentation to determine compliance with JCHAO and OMFL standards .
  • Performs all other duties as assigned .
What You'll Bring:
  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program
  • At least 3-5 years of psychiatric, behavioral health, or relevant experience
  • At least 1-2 years of managerial experienceUnrestricted license as a Registered Nurse through the Washington State Board of Nursing or hold a multistate licensure privilege
  • American Heart Association BLS
  • Must be able to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques
  • The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company’s exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment
  • Complete all credentialing requirements within the required time period, including but not limited to obtaining a National Provider Identifier (NPI), Medallion enrollment, Medicare enrollment, and any other necessary credentials as required for the role
  • Physical Requirements
    • Safely perform physical interventions (e.g., standing, pivoting, reaching, kneeling, lowering to the floor, and supporting another person’s weight)
    • Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally
    • Tolerate prolonged walking, standing, and observation in a fast-paced environment
    • Work with individuals who may exhibit agitation, aggression, or unpredictable behavior
It would be great if you had:
  • Previous emergency room or crisis psychiatric care experience
  • Familiarity with Court Ordered Treatment processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
