The role requires an accredited nursing degree, AZ RN license, 3+ years in psychiatric care, and a minimum of 1 year in management, with a fingerprint clearance card and mandatory vaccination compliance.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program.
  • At least 3 years of psychiatric, behavioral health, or relevant experience.
  • At least one year of managerial experience.
  • Unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse through the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
  • Arizona Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Vaccination policy: fully vaccinated or exempt per policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to the shift to create and maintain a safe milieu.
  • Ensures RN and LPN responsibilities are met and compliant with policy.
  • Assists with policy implementation and data collection for reporting.
  • Monitors observation areas to coordinate care and safety with the team.

Earn More with Shift Differentials

Maximize your earnings with additional hourly pay:

  • +$2/hr -> Monday-Thursday Nights
  • +$6/hr -> Friday-Sunday Nights
  • +$2/hr -> Saturday-Sunday Days

What You'll Do:

TheCharge Nurse oversees the operation, organization, and flow of recipients through the unit, including but not limited to, delegating nursing assignments, overseeing admissions, transfers, and discharges. Demonstrates knowledge of Crisis Intervention and can de-escalate potentially aggressive situations.Assists with training and orientation of new staff and oversees assigned duties of staff and documentation to meet JCAHO and OMFL standards.

  • Provides leadership to the shift assigned to create and maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu.
  • Ensures all RN and LPN responsibilities are met and abide by company policy. Performs all essential functions of a Registered Nurse as needed.
  • Assists Nurse Manager and/or Director of Nursing with the implementation of new policies/procedures and collection of necessary data for reporting (Infection Control, incidents/Medication Errors, Injuries, and Staffing issues). Actively assesses work area for non-compliance issues and notifies Nurse Manager and/or Director of Nursing with identified concerns.
  • Monitors the observation, inpatient unit, and lobby area to coordinate care and safety issues with the Lead Behavioral Health Specialist. Collaborates with other members of the Multidisciplinary team to ensure a smooth flow of admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Ensures coverage for any RN/LPN call-offs for the oncoming shift. Reports lack of coverage to Nurse Manager. Ensures all Nursing staff on their shift remain in compliance with required trainings.
  • Utilizes de-escalation procedures and theories to assist in providing a safe milieu. Utilizes skills effectively to describe and demonstrate roles and responsibilities relative to safety. Reviews seclusion/restraint packet and assists with their corrections.
  • Completes reviews and audits of staff documentation to determine compliance with JCHAO and OMFL standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Physical Requirements
    • Safely perform physical interventions (e.g., standing, pivoting, reaching, kneeling, lowering to the floor, and supporting another person’s weight)
    • Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally
    • Tolerate prolonged walking, standing, and observation in a fast-paced environment
    • Work with individuals who may exhibit agitation, aggression, or unpredictable behavior

It would be great if you had:

  • Previous emergency room or crisis psychiatric care experience
  • Familiarity with Court Ordered Treatment processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
