Job summary

Prime Healthcare in Dallas area is seeking a Day Surgery Charge Nurse responsible for overseeing nursing staff and patient care during shifts. The Charge Nurse reports to the Department Director and helps run daily operations of the unit.

Responsibilities include directing staff, coordinating with the House Supervisor on risk events, and ensuring qualityDocumentation and regulatory compliance for smooth patient flow and care delivery.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BLS required on hire; maintain current.
• ACLS within 30 days of hire; maintain current.
• PALS preferred (required for pediatric OR facilities).
• 1–2 years supervisory experience in acute care preferred.
• 1 year critical care / PACU experience in acute care preferred.
• BSN degree preferred.
• CNOR or CCRN within 2 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct communication with the Director and/or House Supervisor for unanticipated patient care events and risk management.
• Utilizes nursing staff effectively; assists with scheduling, staffing and assignments.
• Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of staff; facilitates education as needed.

• Collaborates with other department managers to coordinate services for patients.
• Enhances patient flow and admission/discharge/transfer processes.
• Assesses care delivery and documentation for quality and safety.
• Directs staff to adjust plans of care to ensure patient safety and policy compliance.
• Interviews patients/families on admission and rounds to improve experience and access to services.

Hours:8 hour – 6:30am to 3:30-4pm

Location:Dallas Regional Medical Center – Mesquite, TX

We are seeking a Day Surgery Charge Nurse.The Charge Nurse is responsible and accountable to the Department Director for the quality of nursing staff and the delivery of patient care during his/her shift and assists the Director in the daily operation of the respective unit(s)/department.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct communication with the Director and/or House Supervisor of unanticipated patient care events and/or risk management activities within patient care unit(s);
• Utilizes nursing personnel effectively, assisting with required scheduling, staffing and assignments;
• Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of staff and/or staff education as necessary;
• Assists with performance evaluations, progressive discipline of staff and other related HR activities as needed;
• Assesses supplies and equipment availability, ensures their proper use and functionality and assists in the daily maintenance of par levels;
• Collaborates with other department managers/supervisors to ensure smooth coordination of services to patients;
• Enhanced patient flow within the facility and efficient admission/discharge/transfer processes;
• Assesses patient care delivery and quality of care/documentation on a consistent basis;
• Directs staff members to make immediate changes in the plan of care, as appropriate to ensure patient safety and adherence to regulatory guidelines, hospital policies, procedures, protocols and/or clinical pathways and notifies Department Director, House Supervisor and/or Medical Staff as appropriate utilizing the chain of command.
• Interviews patients/families on admission and during rounds to enhance positive patient experiences, provide comprehensive orientation to the patient care unit and increase patient/family awareness on how to access services and/or the charge nurse, if necessary.

Qualifications

1. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS upon hire and maintain current.3. Current ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current.4. Current PALS upon hire and maintain current, preferred (Required for facilities performing peds OR).5. Previous supervisory experience, one to two years, in acute care hospital setting, preferred.6. Minimum of one (1) year of critical care, PACU experience, preferred in an acute care hospital setting.7. CNOR or CCRN within two (2) years, preferred.8. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred.
