Job summary

Children's of Alabama is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit at Main Campus. You will assess and coordinate patient care during the 7p-7a evening/night shift, supervising the care team and ensuring safety and quality on a 44-bed unit for children 4–18 years old.

Requires a BSN preferred, Alabama RN license, and current BLS certification. Experience in pediatric behavioral health is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSN or higher as preferred; ADN acceptable if grandfathered under policy.
• Current RN license in Alabama and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient care on the assigned shift.
• Supervise and evaluate staff performance; coordinate clinical operations on the unit.

In Behavioral Health Inpatient at Main Campus Dearth Tower

Work schedule will be Full-time on the Evening Night Shift, 7p-7a.

Summary

Responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of patient care on the assigned shift. Supervises and evaluates work performance in accordance with established criteria-based standards of performance. Responsible for the coordination of clinical operations.

Education

• Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing, which must be achieved within three years of starting the role.
• An Associate's degree RN currently in the role may be grandfathered in.

Experience

• Bachelors in nursing or related field with 2 years or more of clinical nursing experience preferred including 1 year of recent pediatric/psych/OR nursing experience preferred.

Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries

• Current RN License in the State of Alabama.
• Current BLS certification.

The Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit is comprised of 44 beds and provides a therapeutic, engaging environment for children ages 4 to 18. The Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit is a rewarding place to work where our care team makes an impact on children’s lives with every interaction. Along with psychiatrists, therapists, and nurse practitioners, we are involved in the day to-day care and decision making that helps kids and families live their best lives. We work hands-on with children of all ages who are struggling with depression, anxiety, suicide, self-control, and trauma. We teach them new emotional and behavioral skills in a fun and interactive way. Our patients need to know that someone cares and can help keep them safe. Someone who can listen compassionately without judgement.
