Job summary

Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center is seeking a Charge Master Specialist to maintain and analyze the organization’s Charge Description Master (CDM), ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliant billing across hospital and outpatient departments.

You will work with Revenue Cycle, Finance, HIM/Coding, clinical departments, and leadership to maintain charges, capture revenue accurately, and support regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health information management, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business or related field.
• Knowledge of charge master maintenance, clinical processes, CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10 codes and modifiers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze the Charge Description Master (CDM) for accuracy and integrity across hospital and outpatient departments.
• Ensure charges are accurately established, maintained, captured, and billed in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, Finance, HIM/Coding, clinical departments, and leadership to support compliant billing and revenue integrity.

Position Summary

The Charge Master Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, accuracy, integrity, and ongoing analysis of the organization's Charge Description Master (CDM), also known as the Chargemaster. This position supports accurate charge capture, compliant billing, appropriate reimbursement, and revenue integrity across hospital and outpatient departments. The CDM Analyst works collaboratively with Revenue Cycle, Finance, HIM/Coding, Clinical Departments, Patient Financial Services, Compliance, Information Technology, and departmental leadership to ensure charges are accurately established, maintained, captured, and billed in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations, payer requirements, and organizational policies.

Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Bachelor's degree in health information management, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business or related field.
• Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of charge master maintenance, clinical processes, clinical coding (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 revenue codes and modifiers.
• Collaborative relationships across the organization.
• Promotes financial stewardship and facilitates bidirectional communication with clinical departments, providers and stakeholders.
• Accuracy and timeliness of CDM updates.
• Completion of annual and ongoing CDM reviews.
• Reduction in charge-related claim edits and denials.
• Identification and recovery of missed revenue opportunities.
• Reduction in charge capture errors.
• Timely resolution of CDM-related issues.
• Successful implementation and testing of new services and charges.
• Completion of departmental charge capture audits.
• Financial impact of revenue integrity initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in healthcare Revenue Cycle, hospital billing, Coding, HIM, Revenue Integrity, Finance, or Charge Capture
• Experience with hospital Charge Description Master (CDM) maintenance strongly
• Experience with CPT, HCPCS, revenue codes, modifiers, and hospital billing
• Experience in a Critical Access Hospital or acute-care hospital environment
