Overview

Charge Entry & Edit Specialist - Corporate Reimbursement/Coding - Per Diem

Responsible for accurately entering charge tickets after screening for appropriate use of CPT, ICD-10, and modifier codes. Communicate with departments/sites when expected charge tickets have not been received for entry. Works closely with Central Charge Manager and Centralized Charge Entry Lead to identify missing charges not received in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Perform charge entry function on a daily basis.


• Review charge ticket for completeness and accuracy in the use of CPT, ICD-10, and Modifiers.


• Identify and communicate to appropriate parties any missing or inaccurate patient or charge entry requirements necessary to complete charge entry.


• Calculates procedure hash totals in order to ensure accurate posting of CPT codes.


• Responsible to fix any charge entry error(s) or warning(s) when applicable at the time of manual charge entry.


• Maintain strict confidentiality related to patient health information in accordance with HIPAA compliance.


• Contribute to maintaining a team environment. Must work in a way that demonstrates and promotes teamwork.

Education, License & Cert

• Degree in Medical Office Assistant preferred, but High School Diploma required with concentration in business courses.

Experience

• One to two years experience with data entry.


• Accurate keyboarding skills are necessary.


• Must have experience working with computers.


• Medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.


• Basic coding knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and modifier application is necessary.


• Demonstrate strong verbal and communication skills, detail oriented and basic math comprehension.
