Job summary

St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, NJ is seeking a Billing Specialist to oversee the operation of billing processes across multiple systems and databases.

You will ensure timely, accurate entry and validation of charges for Surgical Services, including Operating Room and SDCC, on a daily basis. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, 2–3 years of related experience, and post-secondary training in computer applications.

• Minimum 3 years in a healthcare environment with computer applications required; OR or Materials Management experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Job description

Responsible for the operation of all billing processes within various systems and databases. Responsible for the timely and accurate entering and validation of charges. Responsibilities include utilizing a computer to enter data from source material for the processing of charges for the Surgical Services areas including but not limited to the Operating Room and SDCC on a daily basis.

Qualifications

Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent and two to three years of previous work related experience required. Post-secondary training in computer applications or the equivalent is required. A minimum of three years experience in a healthcare environment with computer applications is required; Operating Room or Materials Management is required. Must be able to work independently to assure completion of all tasks with minimal supervision. Must have excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Medical Terminology is required.
