Job summary

IQE plc in Greensboro, NC, seeks a Characterization Engineer - P2 to split work between cleanroom and office, handling metrology and device characterization tasks.

You will follow SOPs, ensure traceability, support calibration, and engage with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and meet daily manufacturing targets.

Qualifications

• Advanced characterization experience in manufacturing or equivalent.
• 7+ years in characterization or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Experience in cross-functional engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate ILM/destructive metrology tools for device characterization.
• Follow SOPs, EHS, quality records and traceability requirements.
• Support calibration and monitoring tasks; contribute to problem solving and root-cause investigations.
• Collaborate with site functions to meet daily targets and improve processes.

Abouttherole

The Characterization Engineer:

• Split work between the cleanroom environment, following all required protocols and procedures and the office.
• Support ahighlevelofcleanlinessbycompletingscheduledhousekeepingtasks.
• Complywithallcompanypolicies,SOP(StandardOperatingProcedures),WorkInstructions,andrecordkeepingrequirements.
• ComplywithallEHSprotocolsandrequirements.
• Complywithallhealthandsafety,HR,environmentalqualityandcybersecurityguidelinesandproceduresinternallyandwithinthescopeofbusiness,ISO,andregulatoryrequirementsasitpertainstothejobfunction.
• Haveclearunderstanding ofchemicalsandsubstancesintheworkplaceandfollowstrictguidanceforhandlingofsuchsubstances,whichcouldincludePPErequirements.
• Fosteracollaborative workenvironmentandpromoteteamworkacrossdepartments.
• Therolemayrequireadegreeofflexibilityinworkinghours,whichwillbediscussedandagreed tosupport bothindividual andorganizationalneeds.
• Adhere to the competency management process, completing assigned tasks, training and approvals in a timely manner.
• Use computerized tools and software to follow process and routine tasks, accurately recording all works carried out for traceability and within the scope of the role.

• Have intermediate level of experience and competence with troubleshooting.
• Liaise with other site functions to ensure daily targets are met.

• In-LineMetrology(ILM)toolswithanunderstanding ofapplicationandoperation.
• Destructivemetrologytoolswithanunderstanding ofapplicationandoperation.
• Deviceprocessingequipmentwithanunderstanding ofapplicationandoperation.
• Chemicaletching.
• Electricalandopticaltestingproceduresoffabricateddevicesindependently,followingtraining.
• Havegoodcompetence andexperienceofrelevantcomputersoftwaresystemstofollowandprocessroutinetasksaccurately,recordingallworkscarriedoutfortraceability.
• Haveagoodunderstanding ofscheduledroutinecalibrationandmonitoringtasks.
• Support corrective/preventive actions, problem solving, failure analysis, process qualification, and root cause investigations for areas of responsibility.
• Assists in defining the scheduled routine calibration and monitoring, performing regular daily, weekly and monthly tasks.
• Performotherfunctionsanddutiesasrequired.

ExperienceRequirementsfortheCharacterizationEngineer-P2:

• AdvancedexperienceinCharacterizationorequivalentmanufacturingfield.
• 7+YearsexperienceinCharacterizationorequivalentcombinationofeducation,experienceand/orknowledgeisdesirable.
• Experience of working in Characterization or Engineering functions.
• Experience of working effectively in cross-functional teams.
