Job summary

Amara Hospice Care LLC in the Metro Detroit area seeks a Chaplain to assess spiritual needs and arrange for inter-faith support for patients and families. This role requires travel across Metro Detroit and surrounding areas, a minimum of one CPE unit, hospice experience preferred, and strong communication and teaching skills; a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

Job description

The Amara Hospice Care goal is to provide end-of-life care and supportive services for patients and their families, and to enhance their quality of life. Our hospice team is dedicated to promoting a state of serenity of mind, body and soul for our patients and their families by collaborating with families to provide quality and compassionate hospice care.

The Chaplain is responsible for assessing the spiritual and religious needs of patients and their families, arrange for the provision of spiritual and religious support in accordance with their wishes, and supporting families in the bereavement process. Must have a minimum of one Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit. Prior Hospice experience is preferred. This position requires travel and covers Metro Detroit and surrounding areas.

Minimum of one year supervised experience in a medical, educational or religious agency/institution.

Ability to provide an inter-faith approach to spiritual care demonstrating a high level of cultural and theological competence in working with diverse faith and belief systems.

Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and teaching skills.

Computer skills: Word, email, patient database charting, internet, voicemail.

Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and the minimum state required liability auto insurance.
