Bridges International is currently looking for aChaplain to administrate a wide range of religious programs and to facilitate the religious expression of all inmates at the Turning Point Bridge.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises all religious activities and services at the facility.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees a schedule of all activities, classes, services, etc.This schedule including times and locations must be coordinated with the Facility/Executive Director and the Clinical Team.
  • Responsible for activities to assist inmates/clients in the expansion of their knowledge and understanding of and commitment to the beliefs and principles of their respective religions.
  • During emergencies, the Chaplain shall be available to provide moral and spiritual counseling to employees as well as the inmates/clients.
  • Schedule activities to allow each inmate/client an opportunity to participate in religious programs and activities of his choice consistent with the security, order and effective management of the institution.
  • Consults with staff, current volunteers and inmates/clients in order to determine needs which can be met through the utilization of volunteers.
  • Responsible to recruit, screen, orient/train, assign, supervise, and manage all volunteers at the facility.
  • Coordinates the process of NCIC background checks for all volunteers with the Department of Corrections and facility administration.
  • Maintains confidential files on all volunteers to include the application, NCIC background approval, approval as a volunteer, documentation of training, letters, discipline, etc.
  • Coordinates facility’s activities concerning traditional holidays and holy days such as, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc.
  • Represents the facility and agency in the community attending appropriate meetings with churches, businesses, and community leaders.
  • Provides monthly Volunteer Activity Reports to the facility and Facility Directors concerning the number of services, activities, inmate/client participation, volunteer participation and the amount of volunteer hours.
  • Provides a monthly and annual report on these activities following the Department of Corrections reporting forms and submit to the Facility Director.
  • Attends and participates in Management and Clinical/Program meetings as scheduled.
  • Conducts orientation with all new inmates/clients welcoming them to our facility and inform them of the services and ministries available through the Chaplaincy programs.
  • Be available to work all shifts to ensure proper coverage per contract and policy standards.
  • Clock in and out utilizing the company time and attendance system, where applicable.
  • Must be able to perform the major functions of job with or without an accommodation.
  • Required to attend all mandatory training specified by policy.
  • Must be able to speak, read write and understand English.
  • Report all workers compensation injuries, whether they require medical attention or not, to their supervisor immediately.
  • Report all breaches of company policy or code of ethics that you have knowledge of, hear about or see regardless of who is involved in the breach to your immediate supervisor orthe Facility/Executive Director of the facility immediately.Or HR Department when necessary.
  • Report all unsafe conditions that could affect inmates/clients or employees which you become aware of to your immediate supervisor or Facility/Executive Director of the site immediately.
  • To be eligible for a promotion to a supervisory position you must demonstrate organizational abilities and must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • To be eligible for promotion to a supervisory position you must attend supervisory/team building training.This can be accomplished by checking out “How to Supervise People” CD from the corporate office and passing all tests with a minimum score of 80%.
  • Ensure that all applicable policies and procedures that fall within the scope of job description are followed and adhered to.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Qualifications

EDUCATION: AA Degree. Ordain minister with a minimum of three years experience. Substance abuse experience minimum of one year.
