Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUHA) seeks a Chaplain I to join Pastoral Care Services. The role provides spiritual care to patients, families, and staff across all ages, under guidance of the Manager, Pastoral Care Services.

MUSC Pastoral Care Service supports neonate through geriatric patients. Education requires a Master of Divinity and ordination with endorsement; a CPE unit is needed, plus one year of pastoral experience and strong verbal communication and relational skills.

Qualifications

• Requires Master’s of Divinity and ordained status with endorsement; one CPE unit or equivalent clinical experience.
• One year of pastoral experience; ability to communicate well verbally.
• Excellent relational, collegial and interdisciplinary skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides pastoral care to patients, families, and staff.

Job Description

Job Summary/Purpose: The Chaplain I reports to the Manager, Pastoral Care Services. The Chaplain I, under the guidance of the Manager, Pastoral Care Services, provides pastoral care services to patients, families, and staff with respect to individual religious and spiritual practices and values. MUSC Pastoral Care Service provides its support to the entire patient population (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).

Additional Job Description

Education and Experience: Requires the equivalent of a Master's of Divinity from an accredited theological seminary and ordination as a priest, minister, or rabbi, with current ecclesiastical endorsement or endorsement eligibility; and one (1) unit of clinical pastoral education approved by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or the National Jewish Welfare board, or equivalent clinical experience; one year of pastoral experience. Must be able to communicate well verbally. Must possess excellent relational, collegial and interdisciplinary skills.
