Qualifications

Overview

Full Time Day Shift

$55,000 - $65,000

Patient Coverage Territory includes Attleboro, Wrentham, Walpole, Canton, Brockton, Stoughton, and surrounding areas. Orientation will take place at the care center in Fall River.

Responsibilities

1. Represent a spiritual presence and connection with the religious/spiritual roots of the hospice movement.
2. Provide a reminder to hospice workers that patients may desire spiritual resources beyond physical and emotional support.
3. Serve as a spiritual resource to team members and assist in their growth or grief management.
4. Document patients' and families' religious/spiritual needs and resources on intake/assessment forms and complete progress notes after each contact.
5. Raise the possibility of spiritual needs during patient care conferences and report interventions.
6. Offer direct spiritual counsel, prayer, and sacraments to patients and families when invited.
7. Coordinate with the patient/family's clergy or congregation if requested.
8. Encourage planning of funerals, wills, obituary requests, and interment in advance. Remain available to officiate at funeral services if requested.
9. Be present at the time of death if requested.
10. Provide literature and spiritual resources to assist patients and families.
11. Participate in the patient/family care planning process.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Ordained and endorsed minister, priest, rabbi, or member of a religious order preferred, or a lay person with certified pastoral care training. Relevant professional experience may substitute formal education.
• At least one (1+) year of experience in a healthcare setting or with death and dying.
• Comfortable working in an interfaith environment.
• Familiar with basic computer functions, including user accounts, internet, email, and navigation of desktop and programs. Ability to manage online HR services and training programs.

Preferred

• Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology (e.g., Bachelor or Master of Divinity or equivalent).
