Job summary

Providence Place Senior Living is seeking a full-time Chaplain to support the Dover campus and advance spiritual well-being aligned with our inclusive mission.

Responsibilities include 1:1 counseling, hospital visits, worship leadership, grief support, and ecumenical partnerships spanning denominations, with emphasis on elder care and dementia-sensitive ministry.

Qualifications

• Seminary or college degree in ministry; M.Div. preferred for a lead chaplain.
• Licensed and/or ordained by your faith tradition.
• A lived devotional life — prayer, worship, study, fellowship, and service.
• Ecumenical heart; comfortable serving all faiths and denominations.
• Experience with older adults in parish ministry or senior care settings.
• CPE or pastoral counseling training preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 spiritual counseling and keep regular office hours for residents.
• Visit residents in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.
• Walk with new residents through transition into community life.
• Facilitate grief support group and Celebration of Life honoring residents lost.
• Lead weekly ecumenical worship services and administer communion.
• Offer Bible study and hymn singing; full pastoral duties as ordained chaplain.
• Develop Circle of Friends groups and welcome groups; build ecumenical partnerships.
• Support staff alongside wellness team during difficult moments.

Providence Place Senior Living is seeking a full-time Chaplain for our Dover campus who will faithfully carry out the mission of our Spiritual Life Services: promoting spiritual well-being through the affirmation of life in relationship with God and people. We take a broad, inclusive approach to spiritual care — honoring each resident's own spirituality and religious tradition, whatever it may be.

What you'll do — across three dimensions of spiritual care:

Pastoral Care

• Provide 1:1 spiritual counseling and keep regular office hours for residents
• Visit residents in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities
• Walk with new residents through the transition into community life
• Facilitate a weekly Grief Support Group and a monthly Celebration of Life honoring residents we've lost
• Lead weekly ecumenical worship services, midweek and Sunday afternoons
• Administer communion and perform full pastoral duties as an ordained chaplain
• Offer Bible study and hymn sings

Spiritual Life Groups

• Lead Circle of Friends groups and a welcome group for new residents
• Build relationships with local clergy and churches as an ecumenical partner
• Support our staff through difficult moments, alongside the wellness team

Schedule

Full-time.

What you bring

• Seminary or college degree in ministry (M.Div. preferred for a lead chaplain role); Bible college degree plus specialized ministry training considered
• Licensed and/or ordained by your faith tradition
• A lived devotional life — prayer, worship, study, fellowship, and service are foundational for you, not just professional
• A proven ecumenical heart: comfortable serving all faiths and partnering across denominations
• Experience with older adults — parish ministry with older congregants, gerontology or dementia coursework, or chaplaincy in assisted living or skilled nursing
• Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or pastoral counseling training preferred, not required
