Job summary

Duke Health in Durham, NC, invites applications for a Chaplain Educator training position within the ACPE program. You will provide and administer pastoral care and counseling to patients, families, and staff, and support Year 1–3 CPE students as they progress toward ACPE certification.

The role progresses through three phases, with annual review by ACPE Faculty, and eventual transition to Certified Educator or related roles. This is a fulltime training opportunity.

Qualifications

• Master's in Divinity or equivalent; successful completion of 4 ACPE CPE units.
• Eligibility for 'Board Certified Chaplain' by professional associations.
• Strong skills in pastoral care, spiritual support, and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Provide and administer pastoral care and counseling for patients, families and staff.
• Support ACPE students through Year 1–3 phases and track progress toward certification.
• Coordinate and deliver spiritual education and group activities for CPE students.
• Engage in ongoing professional growth and collaborate with ACPE faculty.
• Assist in recruitment/admissions and curriculum development for the ACPE program.
• Maintain high standards of professional conduct and confidentiality.
