Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Chaplain Resident to assist with spiritual assessment and support for patients and their families. Under the guidance of an ACPE certified chaplain educator, the resident will provide care, collaborate with healthcare teams, and participate in Clinical Pastoral Education.
Applicants should hold a Bachelor's Degree with preference for a Master of Divinity or its equivalent. Experience in a pastoral role is required, along with emotional and spiritual maturity to handle crises.

Under the direction of an ACPE certified chaplain educator, the chaplain resident assists with the direct ministry to patients, their families and caregivers via spiritual assessment and support, spiritual and sacramental care. The chaplain resident is also responsible for initiating and implementing new methods of addressing patients' and family members' emotional and spiritual needs and for collaborating with other members of the health care team to communicate and coordinate care. The chaplain resident also participates fully in the Clinical Pastoral Education curricular activities.

Position requires Bachelor's Degree, one year or its equivalent of graduate theological education, and one ACPE, Inc. accredited unit of Clinical Pastoral Education. Preference for Master of Divinity or its equivalent. May also accept other related Master’s Degrees along with appropriate theological education.
One half (1/2) to one (1) year of pastoral experience, full time or part time, in an institutional or congregational setting. Experience may be paid or in certain cases unpaid.
Demonstrated emotional and spiritual maturity sufficient to work in a crisis and chronic illness setting. Demonstrated capacity to participate in the educational methodology of Clinical Pastoral Education.
