Job summary

Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking a chaplain to administer and facilitate religious and spiritual programming in a correctional setting. You will coordinate religious programming, provide spiritual care and resources to inmates across faith traditions, and recruit volunteers for accommodated groups.

Minimum qualifications include four or more years of managing religious programming; CPT/Education training is desirable.

• Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted on a year for year basis for a maximum of two years of the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Prior chaplaincy/counseling experience, prison/jail ministry experience, inter-faith work, and Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E.) training are desirable.

• A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
• A $0.75 per hour medium security or $1.50 maximum security differential if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
• A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!

As a result, your retention pay upon transfer may differ from what you were receiving at your previous agency until you reach your applicable retention anniversary date.
