Job summary

CH I Health Mercy Council Bluffs is seeking a Chaplain Associate to provide compassionate spiritual care to patients, families and staff, guiding healing journeys during critical times.

You will complete spiritual assessments, coordinate with care teams, respond to referrals, and collaborate with local religious communities to meet sacraments and spiritual needs, including end-of-life bereavement support and blessings.

Qualifications

• Completion of one or more units of CPE.
• Bachelor's degree in theology or related field preferred.
• Master's degree or equivalency in theology, behavioral science, ministry or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides pastoral/spiritual care to patients, loved ones, and staff.
• Completes spiritual assessments and communicates with care team; documents as required.
• Responds to routine and emergency referrals promptly.
• Coordinates with local religious community to meet spiritual/sacramental needs.
• Coordinates spiritual/pastoral ministry and bereavement care near end of life and at death.
• Provides blessing/ritual/prayer for pastoral support upon request.
