Job summary

St. Croix Hospice seeks a Chaplain to provide emotional, practical, and spiritual support to patients and families on their hospice journey.

You will coordinate with the clinical team, lead spiritual assessments, and organize bereavement services and memorials in a home-care setting. The role requires theological coursework, a bachelor’s degree (or 5 years ministerial experience), and CPT/education credentials if possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of experience in a formal ministerial setting is required.
• Demonstrated theological coursework required.
• Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology (MDIV, MTS, ThM or equivalent theological degree) preferred.
• One or more unit(s) of Clinical Pastoral Education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct spiritual assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Provides direct spiritual support to patients and families.
• Coordinates with community chaplains and spiritual counselors.
• Maintains records for quality assurance and compliance.
• Attends interdisciplinary team meetings and provides spiritual care consultation.
• Recruits and educates community chaplains, counselors, and volunteers.
• Assists in developing and maintaining a bereavement program, ensuring follow-up care.
• Oversees condolence calls and support group scheduling.
• Conducts funeral/memorial services as requested.
• Organizes periodic memorial services for staff, volunteers, and clergy.
• Supervises spiritual care volunteers as needed.

Education

Bachelor's degree

Bachelor’s degree in biblical studies/theology/religious studies

Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology (MDIV, MTS, ThM or equivalent)

An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: geographic location, relevant education, applicable certifications, depth of experience, and special skillsets. The total compensation package for this position may also include the opportunity to participate in employee benefits including our medical/dental/vision/pet insurance, disability and life insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) retirement plans, subject to applicable plan terms, and/or eligibility for other compensation.
