Job summary

St. Croix Hospice is seeking a Chaplain to provide emotional, practical and spiritual guidance to patients and families on the hospice journey. You will work with the clinical team to coordinate care and connect families with community resources and services.

The role requires theological coursework and a degree (preferred) in theology or religious studies, with CPE preferred. Experience in hospice or medical chaplaincy is welcome, and HIPAA compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Theological coursework required.
• Bachelor degree preferred or equivalent theology degree.
• Graduate theological degree preferred (MDIV/MTS/ThM).
• One or more unit(s) of Clinical Pastoral Education preferred.
• Hospice or Medical Chaplain experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct spiritual assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Provide direct spiritual support to patients and families.
• Coordinate with community chaplains and spiritual counselors.
• Maintain records for quality assurance and HIPAA compliance.
• Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and provide spiritual care consultation.
• Recruit and educate community chaplains, counselors, and volunteers.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a bereavement program, ensuring follow-up care.
• Oversee condolence calls and support group scheduling.
• Conduct funeral/memorial services as requested.
• Organizes periodic memorial services for staff, volunteers, and clergy.
• Supervises spiritual care volunteers as needed.
• Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement activities.
• Ensures HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient information.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in biblical studies, theology, or religious studies

MDIV/MTS/ThM or equivalent theological degree

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred

An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: geographic location, relevant education, applicable certifications, depth of experience, and special skillsets. The total compensation package for this position may also include the opportunity to participate in employee benefits including our medical/dental/vision/pet insurance, disability and life insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) retirement plans, subject to applicable plan terms, and/or eligibility for other compensation.
