Job summary

Wesley Manor Inc. seeks an ordained chaplain to provide pastoral services to residents and employees of the community, guiding spiritual well-being and offering worship, counseling, and visitations as needed. You will coordinate Bible studies, memorial services, and collaborate with the Spiritual Life Committee.

The role involves leading worship, adapting messages for Memory Care residents, and serving as Manager on Duty on Sundays. A compassionate, team-oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be an Ordained minister or approved/certified chaplain with a minimum of two years in professional ministry.
• Ability to minister to residents with varying physical and mental abilities and diverse faith traditions.
• Willingness to take calls after hours for urgent situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide Sunday worship services in the chapel and health center.
• Provide special services for religious days as directed.
• Coordinate weekly Bible study classes.
• Provide spiritual counseling and visitation services to residents and staff.
• Welcome new residents and assess spiritual needs at move-in.
• Coordinate and perform memorial services for residents.
• Work with the Spiritual Life Committee on programs and services.
• Adapt sermons for Health Center and Memory Care residents.
• Coordinate chapel services when not leading worship.
• Prepare and distribute the chapel bulletin.
• Serve as campus Manager on Duty each Sunday.

In This Role You Will:

• Provide Sunday worship services in the chapel and health center, as designated by the community, while establishing an environment appropriate for worship services.
• Provide special service for religious days, i.e. Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, etc., as determined by the community leadership, chaplain and the chapel committee.
• Coordinates weekly bible study classes in the community and health center.
• Provides spiritual counseling and visitation services to residents. The chaplain offers religious and spiritual guidance to residents, families, employees on individual and group levels as requested.
• Welcomes new residents to the community. The chaplain shall make an initial visit to establish a relationship and assess the spiritual needs of a resident upon move-in.
• Coordinates and performs memorial services for residents with no families, performs memorial services for resident who have requested such services, and attends other funerals, viewings, or memorials as a representative of the community.
• Work closely and consistently with the Spiritual Life Committee, actively coordinating with the group on spiritual life programs and services.
• Adapt sermons and spiritual messages for Health Center and Memory Care residents.
• Coordinator chapel services when not serving as worship leader.
• Prepare and distribute the chapel bulletin.
• Serve as campus Manager on Duty each Sunday.

Shift:

• Sunday - Tuesday - Thursday and on-call as necessary

Who You Are:

• Must be an Ordained minister or approved/certified chaplain, with a minimum of two years in professional ministry
• Must possess the ability and stamina to minister to residents with varying physical and mental abilities and differential faith/denomination traditions
• Must be willing to take calls after hours for urgent or emergent situations
• Must be able to travel to hospitals and resident units, as needed. Travel to conferences, seminars, association meetings, and other business-related events
