We have created a new leadership role, Channel Marketing Director, to drive our Go-To-Market strategy across our partner ecosystem, from silicon to public cloud, through channel and hardware manufacturers. As the publisher of Ubuntu and a leading open source provider, we play a pivotal role in innovative value chains like Public Cloud, Cybersecurity, AI, and IoT, supporting our partners technically and commercially.

Reporting to the VP of Marketing, you will lead a team of marketing managers managing partner programs. Your goal will be to work closely with partners to establish Canonical as their trusted partner for open source products and solutions, maximizing ROI of campaigns supporting various partner sales motions.

The partner marketing team comprises talented professionals who excel in formulating joint value propositions, creating compelling messages/assets, and selecting effective channels in complex supply chains. They are passionate about technology, enterprise users, and early adopters of advanced analytics technologies.

Location:

This role is home-based in the AMER region.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop a marketing strategy to drive pipeline growth and revenue through key partners (Silicon, IHV, ODM, Channel, GSI, etc.).
  2. Coordinate with growth, field, and product marketing to align activities with Canonical's campaigns.
  3. Execute partner campaigns across the funnel, from recruitment to demand generation.
  4. Engage and elevate the partner community with high-quality content, collaborating with communication, product, and alliances teams.
  5. Increase partner impact through programmatic approaches.
  6. Create bespoke plans and joint value propositions to differentiate in the marketplace.
  7. Promote our partner collaboration vision internally and externally.
  8. Manage Marketing Development Funds (MDF) usage and distribution.
  9. Implement advanced analytics and reporting to improve ROI of partner marketing activities.
  10. Mentor and develop a diverse team of partner marketers.
  11. Cultivate a culture of testing and optimization.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Deep understanding of the technology ecosystem (Silicon, IHV, ISV, ODM/OEMs, cloud providers, channels).
  • Proven leadership in aligning diverse partners around GTM strategies.
  • Successful track record in co-marketing programs within the tech industry.
  • Experience in reporting on complex partner marketing activities.
  • Ability to foster a culture of excellence, agility, and self-drive.
  • Curiosity and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written.
  • Strong academic background at high school and university levels.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 4 times a year for up to two weeks.
Additional Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with specific verticals like Telco, Finance, Industrial, Automotive.
  • Experience leading distributed teams across time zones.
