Position Summary

The Changeover Supervisor supervises and directs the day-to-day operations of the facilities. The position provides leadership and direction to part-time staff and third-party staff regarding building policies and procedures. Assists the Operations Manager in event planning, coordinating logistics, and executing event changeovers.

This role pays an hourly rate of $16.00-$18.00.

About the Venue

The VSU Multi-Purpose Center is a state-of-the-art multipurpose venue located on the campus of Virginia State University, in South Chesterfield, VA. The arena can seat more than 6,000 guests, making it the largest events venue south of Richmond in Virginia. It hosts athletic events, commencements, live concerts, family shows, trade shows, and more. Opened in March 2016, it is home to the Virginia State University Trojans Basketball and Volleyball teams. Managed by OVG, it aims to reimagine the sports, live entertainment, and convention industries for the betterment of the venue, employees, artists, athletes, and communities.

Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate and supervise conversions.
  2. Oversee hiring, training, scheduling, and managing changeover staff for event setup and teardown.
  3. Manage services and activities involved in arena and exhibit hall operations.
  4. Recruit, train, motivate, and evaluate staff; provide training; address deficiencies; enforce discipline.
  5. Assist in planning and reviewing work plans for facility operations.
  6. Follow written instructions and interpret AutoCAD drawings and blueprints.
  7. Interface with union officials and employees as required.
  8. Develop long-range plans for future events.
  9. Communicate pending tasks between shifts.
  10. Operate or oversee equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, staging, retractable seating, etc.
  11. Coordinate between changeover crew and custodial services.
  12. Maintain departmental equipment.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in operations or facility coordination in an arena, convention center, or public assembly facility, including event setup/breakdown and supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Reliability is essential.
  • Ability to work beyond normal hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Forklift and aerial lift certifications are preferred or must be obtainable.
