Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University’s School of Dentistry seeks a Dental Assistant to join multiple departments. Under supervision, you will provide chair-side support to dentists and students, prepare stations and materials, and assist with 4- and 6-handed procedures.

You will expose radiographs, instruct patients on oral hygiene, sterilize instruments, and ensure operatory readiness for patient care.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved Dental Assistant training program or equivalent experience.
• One year of chair-side experience; Radiological Proficiency certification required for all positions.
• BLS certification from AHA; onboarding completion required.

Responsibilities

• Under a dentist's supervision, provides chair side dental support to dentists, students, or hygienists.
• Prepares workstation, instruments, and materials; escorts patient to the workstation.
• Provides 4- and 6-handed dental assistance for OHSU dental practices.
• Retracts cheek or tongue as directed; assists with rubber dam placement and accessories.
• Uses suction, air, and water to remove debris; prepares amalgams and adhesives.
• Exposes radiographs for diagnostic purposes; reviews post- operative instructions with patients.
• Sterilizes and wraps instruments; maintains operatory equipment; ensures readiness for care.
