Chairside Dental Assistant

The Chairside Dental Assistant prepares the operatory, welcomes patients, and ensures their comfort. Responsibilities include four-handed dentistry, setup and cleanup, sterilization, lab slips, patient instructions, and record keeping.

Role-Specific Responsibilities:

• Greet patients politely and be aware of any limitations such as mobility, hearing, or speech difficulties, and inform the dentist as needed.
• Review patient history, update medical information, and review medications.
• Take and review X-rays and digital images, ensuring high quality.
• Assist with dental procedures, passing instruments efficiently, and maintaining awareness of the next steps.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, sterilize instruments, and follow OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
• Assist with patient education and comfort, especially for anxious patients.
• Care for dental equipment and report any repairs needed.
• Form impressions and temporary restorations as needed.
