Position Mission

The Northwell Health System is seeking a Chair of the Department of Neurology at Glen Cove Hospital. We are looking for applicants with outstanding clinical and managerial skills who are passionate about leading, directing, and developing a center of excellence.

At Northwell Health, the largest private employer in New York State, we aim to improve the health of our patients across 23 hospitals and over 850 outpatient facilities. Glen Cove Hospital, a 235-bed community hospital, includes a 10-bed Joint Commission-accredited Parkinson’s Rehab Unit. Northwell Neurology has notable accomplishments, including three hospitals ranked in the top 50 in the 2023-2024 U.S. News & World Report. Our neurology department features four comprehensive stroke centers, 11 primary stroke centers, and 1 thrombectomy-capable center. Northwell Neurology is also the largest epilepsy center in the nation, with 24 epileptologists and multiple NAEC-accredited centers.

Role Overview

The Chair of Neurology will oversee hospital-based services at Glen Cove Hospital, working collaboratively with hospital and health system leaders within the Eastern Region to meet and exceed organizational, clinical, quality, operational, and financial goals. Responsibilities include clinician recruitment, education, supervision, strategic development, and process improvement initiatives. The role involves inpatient consultative services at Glen Cove Hospital and ambulatory practice.

Leadership and Collaboration

You will lead and collaborate with our team of employed faculty physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, stroke coordinators, and administrative staff.

Candidate Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution (including ACGME or equivalent foreign program)
  • Board certification in Neurology
  • Completion of Neurology residency with board certification
  • 10+ years of leadership experience
  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • Licensed as a physician in New York State
