Job summary

Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research seeks a skilled HVAC/Facilities Technician for the Frederick campus. The role focuses on servicing and repairing industrial HVAC systems, supporting BAS, and maintaining cleanroom HVAC environments in a cGMP setting.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and ensure compliance with safety standards while coordinating with Building Automation and facilities teams at the Frederick location.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; minimum 2 years HVAC experience.
• Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting chilled-water loops.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification for refrigerant handling.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics for HVAC systems.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), e.g., Schneider Electric BAS 3.2.
• Must be able to follow routine safety practices and obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, rebuild, and repair HVAC systems per codes and safety requirements.
• Perform inspections to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions.
• Conduct preventive maintenance of refrigeration components and controls.
• Charge systems, test leaks, and adjust refrigerant metering devices.
• Fabricate ductwork and install components as needed.
• Support BAS and automate HVAC systems; assist with cleanroom HVAC as required.
• Train on SOPs and assist other trades as needed.
