Job summary

Save Your Customers in North Dallas, TX seeks a hands-on Controller / CFO to lead financial operations, partner with the CEO, and drive profitability for a privately held professional services firm serving law firms and corporate clients.

You will own accounting, reporting, budgeting, cash flow, internal controls, and strategic finance, manage a three-person team, and influence pricing and growth opportunities while ensuring compliance and strong governance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
• Previous CFO, VP Finance, Controller, or Controller-to-CFO experience.
• Demonstrated P&L ownership with budgeting and forecasting.
• Strong cash flow management, reporting and internal controls.
• Hands-on experience in lean finance environments.
• Excellent communication with executives, owners and clients.

Responsibilities

• Own the company's financial operations, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
• Lead month-end close and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Manage cash flow, banking, credit platforms, and working capital.
• Develop financial models, KPIs and executive dashboards.
• Monitor revenue, margins, expenses and overall performance.
• Oversee billing, collections and client pass-through costs.
• Partner with CEO on pricing, growth opportunities, and strategy.
• Maintain internal controls and governance across the finance function.
• Lead and develop a three-person accounting team.

Controller / CFO

Position Summary

Our client is a well-established, privately held professional services organization serving major law firms and corporate clients nationwide. The company is seeking an experienced Controller / CFO to lead its financial operations and serve as a key business partner to the CEO and ownership team.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role with responsibility for accounting, financial reporting, P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, internal controls, and financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the company's financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
• Lead and oversee the month-end close and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, credit platforms, expense reporting, and working capital.
• Develop financial models, KPIs, and reporting to support executive decision-making.
• Monitor revenue, margins, profitability, expenses, and overall financial performance.
• Oversee billing and collection of client-reimbursable/pass-through expenses.
• Serve as a senior financial point of contact for clients, including resolving billing and invoice questions.
• Partner with the CEO on pricing, commercial decisions, growth opportunities, and financial strategy.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and governance.
• Oversee tax, regulatory, banking, and other external financial relationships.
• Lead, develop, and hold accountable a three-person accounting team.
• Improve financial systems and processes while maintaining a practical, hands-on approach.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
• Previous CFO, VP Finance, Controller, or Controller-to-CFO experience.
• Demonstrated P&L ownership, including budgeting, forecasting, and margin management.
• Strong experience with cash flow management, banking, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Hands-on experience in a lean accounting/finance environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work directly with executives, ownership, clients, and outside advisors.
• High level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential financial and business information.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA and/or MBA preferred, but not required.

Preferred Experience

• Professional services, legal services, or another project-based business.
• Experience with pass-through, reimbursable, or project-based billing.
• Experience working in a closely held or founder-led organization.
• Exposure to M&A diligence or corporate development activities.
• Demonstrated stability and longevity in previous finance leadership roles.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a low-ego, hands-on financial leader who is equally comfortable working through accounting details and advising the CEO on broader business decisions.

This individual should be comfortable picking up the phone to resolve a client billing question, participating in the monthly close, analyzing financial results, and presenting recommendations to ownership. Strong judgment, discretion, communication, and a high level of personal accountability will be critical to success.
